‘We base our core principles on attacking football’ - Jim Gavin

Tue, 25th August 2015

Dublin manager Jim Gavin anticipates a right battle in this Sunday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Mayo (3.30)  - a duel between two counties who put attacking football towards the top of their list of priorities.

"We play a particular brand of football and we wouldn’t stray too far from that philosophy,” says Jim.

“We base our core principles on attacking football and a very traditional style and we won’t stray too far from that.

“We’d always have various strategies in a game, very subtle changes that people mightn’t see.

“But they’re always there and we just don’t base our strategies on one particular plan, it’s a concept we have and we won’t stray too far from it.

“Mayo will always play a traditional brand of football. They have the players to do it, very skilful players.

“Their backs are very comfortable on the ball and a strong traditional midfield unit. I think they won’t stray too far from how Mayo have always played their football.”
