Dublin versus Kerry games are usually very fondly remembered.
The 2001 edition of the famous rivalry saw the sides meet in the Championship for the first time since 1985, in the unfamiliar surroundings of Semple Stadium in Thurles.
Dublin had lost the Leinster Final to Meath the previous month, but subsequently got past Sligo in the All-Ireland qualifiers to reach the first ever round of All-Ireland Quarter Finals.
Kerry, for their part, had a more straightforward route to the last eight, having won the Munster title.
It set up what was to be another classic encounter between these two old rivals on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
