Dublin's U17 hurlers made a winning start to the inaugural Leinster U17HC when defeating Offaly 1-20 to 0-15 in Parnell Park on Wednesday night.
The Dubs put in a strong closing quarter to seal victory with Eddie Gibbons' 45th minute penalty save crucial as the game turned in the hosts favour thereafter.
Dublin led 1-8 to 0-9 at the break with Liam Murphy's goal helping the Dubs into the two-point half-time lead with Luke McDwyer, Andy Carroll, Alex Hatt and Micheál Murphy among the Dublin scorers.
However, Offaly upped their game on the restart to draw level eight minutes into the second half.
Following Gibbons' telling intervention Dublin were the better side with late scores from Carroll and goal-scorer Murphy seeing Cronan Dooley's side to their eight-point victory.
