DUBLIN 3-15 OFFALY 0-7
Dublin's under-17 footballers made the most of the 'second chance saloon' when they defeated Offaly by 17 points in Wednesday night's Leinster U17FC qualifier at O'Connor Park, Tullamore.
The Dubs were beaten by Meath in last week's first round tie but made no mistake when ending the Faithful County's involvement in the inaugural U17 competition.
Following Wednesday's victory Dublin were drawn to face Westmeath, who overcame Offaly in their first round tie, in next Wednesday night's provincial quarter-final (Abbotstown, 7.0).
The Dubs took control of the game towards the close of the opening half to hold a seven-point interval advantage (1-8 to 0-4) before cruising to victory in the second half.
The Dubs opened with the first two points of the contest but scores from Offaly’s Kevin McDermott and Conor McCarthy levelled matters.
The counties were level 0-3 each before Dublin struck for the only goal of the first half through Jordan Leonard in the 18th minute.
Dublin closed out the half with momentum with John Foley slotting two points from play while Ciarán Archer, tallied four points in the half, including two frees.
Archer added a second goal to Dublin's account after the break with Leonard tagging on the third before the finish.
