Cavan retained the Gerry Reilly U16 Football Tournament when they defeated Dublin 2-12 to 0-8 in Sunday night’s Cup final in Oldcastle, Meath.
The Breffni Blues started well with a James Smith goal in the second minute to immediately bolt into a 1-1 to 0-1 lead.
However, Dublin responded well with points form Riche English (free), James Doran and Eoin O’Dea.
Oisin Pierson’s eye for the posts got Cavan back on top and by the interval they led 1-6 to 0-4.
Cavan tagged on points on the restart through Pierson and a brace from Cian Madden (one free) and when Cormac Wall goaled in the 40th minute the Ulster side were not going to be stopped.
Cavan's Ryan Coyle was presented with the Millbrook Food Market 'Man of the match' award by Dermot Monaghan (Oldcastle GFC)
Afterwards the Cavan Captain, Cian Madden, was presented with the Gerry Reilly Cup by Claire Reilly (mother of Gerry)
