Two changes in personel for All-Ireland SFC quarter-final

Two changes in personel for All-Ireland SFC quarter-final

Thu, 7th August 2014

Dublin make two changes in personnel for Saturday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Monaghan in Croke Park (6.0).

Jonny Cooper, who missed out on the Leinster final victory over Meath owing to injury, returns to action at centre-back with Jack McCaffrey losing out.

The other alteration is in the attack with Eoghan O'Gara listed to start at full-forward - in the rejigged forward line Paul Mannion will not start.

O'Gara impressed when coming on against the Royal County when scoring 1-1 and winning a lot of clean possession.

DUBLIN v MONAGHAN

They meet in the championship for the first time since July 1923, when Dublin beat Monaghan by 2-5 to 0-0 in the All-Ireland semi-final in Dundalk. Dublin also won the previous two championship meetings between the counties in 1921 and 1908.

The last competitive clash between the counties was in March 2011 when Dublin beat Monaghan by a point (0-13 to 1-9) in Clones in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League. Dublin, the reigning All-Ireland champions, are bidding to reach the semi-finals for a fifth successive year, having last lost out in 2009 when they lost to Kerry.
