Two changes for senior hurlers’ clash with Laois

Sat, 6th July 2019

There are two changes in personnel for the Dublin senior hurlers for Sunday's All-Ireland SHC preliminary quarter-final against Laois in O'Moore Park, Portlaoise (4.15).

Eoghan O'Donnell who was injured early on in Dublin's Leinster SHC round-robin Round 5 victory over Galway (3-19 to 0-24) has been replaced by James Madden with Shane Barrett moving to full-back.

In that victory over the Tribesmen in Parnell Park Dublin were forced into the same alteration with the Na Fianna man moving from wing-back to man the square with Madden coming in a left half-back.

The other change is in attack with Ronan Hayes named at full-forward, the Kilmacud Crokes forward replaced Liam Rushe in the 65th minute of the clash with Galway.

Dublin and Laois last met in SHC action in 2017 when Dublin won an All-Ireland Qualifier tie by 13 points.

Dublin won two (versus Galway and Carlow), drew one (versus Wexford) and lost one (versus Kilkenny) of their four Leinster SHC group games while Laois had a very impressive run in the Joe McDonagh Cup, winning four and drawing one of five games on their way to taking the title. The Dublin/Laois winners will play Tipperary in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals on Sunday week.

Meath and Clare provide the curtain-raiser in Portlaoise on Sunday when they meet in their All-Ireland SFC Qualifier Round 4 (2.0).
