Tomás Quinn enjoying the good times with Vinnies

Tue, 8th November 2016

Tomás Quinn is determined to make every second count 'in the autumn of his career' as Dublin senior football champions St Vincents set out on their Leinster journey once again.

Last Saturday the former Dublin senior played the lead role as the Marino side won its third Dublin title of the last four seasons and his fourth SFC in total.

This coming Sunday St Vincent's travel to Netwatch Cullen Park to face Carlow champions Palatine (2.0).

“We know this has a shelf life. I mean, I’m 35. I’m very conscious of it. I’m trying to milk everything I can out of it," says Tomas.

“I love being out here. But I know this isn’t going to last for too much longer.

“So I think there’s an understanding of that within our group. And we accept it. We’re not afraid to talk about it.

“We’re not afraid to say this is our fourth final," referring to last Saturday's Dublin decider, "but let’s be honest. If we won two and lost two, it would give a very different look on what the team is remembered for.

“And we spoke about that. And look, we’re very fortunate to come from a great club. But what happened in the past is nothing to do with us.

“We’re trying to create our own thing.”

St Vincent's are not the only Dublin club in provincial action this weekend as Clontarf face Laois' Rosenallis in a Leinster JHC quarter-final while Fingallians take on Westmeath's Rosemount at home in a Leinster IFC semi-final.
