We would like to offer our thoughts and prayers to the family & friends of Ciarán Smith, a stalwart member of Wild Geese GAA, who was one of the Irish Coast Guard volunteers onboard rescue helicopter 'Rescue 116', which disappeared during a rescue mission off the coast of Mayo on Wednesday morning.
Ciarán was a brave & dedicated clubman and a keen cyclist.
We also express our deepest sympathies to the families & friends of Ciarán's fellow crew-members; Capt. Dara Fitzpatrick, Chief Pilot Mark Duffy & Winchman Paul Ormsby.
Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest and most sincere gratitude to all members of the Irish Coast Guard, for their tireless, courageous & selfless efforts to protect and rescue in our waters.
