Former Dublin footballer Brian Stynes is our guest on Episode 10 of The Hop Ball - the Dubs TV series sponsored by AIG.
Stynes- a key member of Dublin’s 1995 All-Ireland winning team- joins presenter Eamon Fennell from his home in Melbourne, Australia, which remains in Covid19 lockdown.
Brian discusses his time in lockdown, which began on a cruise ship in South America- a two-week holiday instead turning into a seven-week sojourn before being able to return home.
The former Ballyboden St Enda's man looks back on his playing career, which took him from featuring for the Dublin minor footballers, to a transfer to the AFL to play with Melbourne, before returning to play with the Dublin senior footballers.
He went on to star for Pat O’Neill’s men, as they ended the long wait for All-Ireland glory - Stynes picking up an All-Star for his efforts.
Brian also featured for Ireland in the International Rules series against Australia, playing against his brother Jim in 1998- a moment he describes as “the icing on the cake" of his career.
The episode airs this Wednesday at 7pm on Dubs TV.
