Stephen Cluxton named captain for fourth year

Stephen Cluxton will captain Dublin senior footballers again in 2016, his fourth consecutive year to do so.

The Dubs exited the Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup on Sunday when losing to Longford and can now concentrate on their preparations for their NFL opener against Kerry in Croke Park on Saturday, Januaray 30 (7.0) – the Walsh Cup final will act as the curtain-raiser.

After Sunday’s defeat in Pearse Park Dublin manager Jim Gavin revealed that Diarmuid Connolly has returned to full training but that Paul Flynn is unlikely to feature in early league rounds, with some other ‘regulars’ also afforded “an extended break”.
