Holders Kilmacud Crokes made it two wins from two starts when they put in a powerful second half to defeat Parnell’s, 0-24 to 1-6, in Wednesday night’s Dublin SHC ‘A’ Group 4 clash at Parnell Park.
Crokes recovered from the concession of an early goal when Stephen Duffy fired home to lead by 0-11 to 1-4 at the break.
The accuracy of Oisín O’Rorke was to the fore for the Stillorgan men as he hit 0-9 (0-7f) over the hour with his brother Barry chipping in with four points from play.
Parnell’s went scoreless for the opening 16 minutes of the second half when Colm McDonald converted a free but Crokes were well on their way to victory at that stage.
In the earlier game in Parnell Park, also in Group 4, Alan Moore hit a hat-trick of goals to help St Vincent’s to a comprehensive 3-23 to 0-9 victory over Setanta.
Moore, the impressive Diarmuid Connolly, Graham Giblin and Tomás McGrane showed their accuracy in front of goals to open up a 0-14 to 0-5 interval lead.
Then came a quick brace of goals from Moore on the restart effectively and he added his third 15 minutes from time.
In O’Toole Park, Cuala finished the stronger to defeat Lucan Sarsfields 0-19 to 1-10 in Group 2.
Kerry senior hurler Darragh O’Connell hit four points from play in the opening half to help his men to a 0-9 to 0-5 half-time advantage.
Tommy Somers’ penalty brought Lucan back into contention but Cuala showed the greater will to win going down the home straight to secure their second victory.
