SFC2 wins for Maur’s, Mearnóg and St Mary’s

Naomh Maur, Nh Mearnóg and St Mary's, Saggart all recorded SFC2 victories in their round-robin groups on Thursday night that booked them quarter-final slots.

Maur's overcame Fingallians 4-11 to 0-16 in Donabate in theiir Dublin SFC2 Group 1 duel with Dublin U20 of this season, Ciarán Archer, scoring 2-5 (1-2f).

Fingallians started the better to lead 0-4 to 0-1 inside ten minutes, they had extended their lead to 0-7 to 0-3 by the 20th minute with the accuracy of Oisín Lynch, who tallied 0-9 (0-3f, 0-1 '45') overall and Paul Flynn (0-4), to the fore.

However, Archer hit his first goal in the 22nd minute to reduce the gap to the minimum and before the interval Danny Byrne hit Maur's second goal, in the second minute of added time, to give their side a 2-6 to 0-10 interval lead.

The sides were level approaching the three-quarter mark before Conor McGuire edged Maur's 3-7 to 0-13 clear and late on Archer grabbed his second goal to see Maur's join Cuala from their group in the last-eight.

In SFC2 Group 2 Nh Mearnóg defeated St Anne's 2-12 to 1-8 in St Margaret's to see the Portmarnock side move into the quarter-finals alongside Templeogue Synge Street.

In SFC2 Group 4 St Mary's, Saggart overcame St Peregrine's 1-12 to 0-9 in Abbotstown to book their quarter-final spot along with Fingal Ravens from their group.
