Senior hurlers ready for Nowlan Park test

Senior hurlers ready for Nowlan Park test

Fri, 18th March 2016

Dublin hurler Daire Plunkett says that Sunday's NHL Division 1A opponents, Kilkenny, are the template for consistent brilliance.

The Dubs face the Cats in Nowlan Park on Suhday (2.0) with a berth in the quarter-final already secured but knowing their early season credentials will come under serious scrutiny.

“There’s a reason that they (Kilkenny) bring that level of consistency over the last 15 years now,” says Daire.

“It’s just that non-stop looking for the next performance.

“That’s what we’re looking to strive towards,” adds Daire “to get rid of the ‘which Dublin will show up this week’?”

Dublin began their NHL campaign with a poor showing against Tipp but their curve has been upwards ever since, he's hoping it was a watershed night for Ger Cunningham's men.

“That week after the Tipperary game,it wasn’t easy but it’s been a lot nicer since then.

“And it was probably a good thing to have the Galway game so soon after it.

“We were able to put the demons to rest very quickly straight after it.

“But that said, we probably learned more from the Tipperary game. You either win or you learn.”
