Senior hurlers hit UCD for four

Thu, 7th January 2016

DUBLIN 4-15 UCD 3-12

Dublin's senior hurlers got 2016 off to a winning start in this Bord na Móna Walsh Cup clash at Belfield on Thursday night.

There was plenty to admire in this high-scoring tussle with both Paul Ryan and Eamonn Dillon both scoring two goals as the Dubs came from five points in arrears at the break to emerge victorious.

With Dublin and Kilmacud Crokes' forward Oisín O'Rorke, who finished with a personal tally of  3-2 (1-1f), starring in attack for the students the Belfield lads led 3-8 to 2-6 at the break.

Colm Cronin and Cian O'Callaghan, two more Dublin panellists who impressed for UCD, were to the fore as the students set about the second half in command.

However, Dublin were quickly into their stride with Paul Ryan scoring 1-2 and by the three-quarter marker the sides were deadlocked 3-9 each.

It was then Dublin struck for home with Fiontán Mac Gibb and Niall McMorrow helping Dublin to five points without reply and in the 63rd minute Eamonn Dillon's second goal was enough to see Dublin to victory.
