DUBLIN 2-18 MAYO 0-10
Dublin revived their league hopes when they cruised to victory over Mayo in Saturday night's duel at McHale Park, Castlebar.
Mayo made the better start with points from Jason Doherty and Kevin McMcLoughlin but a six minute scoring blitz by the Dubs put them on the road to victory in front of a crowd of 13.548.
The industrious Tomás Brady ignited the Dublin charge as they hit 1-5 without reply in this purple patch with Denis Bastick grabbing the goal when he found himself in the right place at the right time to fire to an empty net after Bernard Brogan's initial effort came back off the underside of the crossbar.
By the interval Dublin had moved 2-10 to 0-6 clear as Dublin were totally dominant and the attack moved with great potency.
Bernard Brogan hit Dublin's second goal after Kevin McManamon did well in the build up as well as riding his luck to get away with a double hop.
Dublin could have in fact led by more at the interval but any feint hopes the hosts had of a second half comeback with extinguished early in the second half when Ciaran Kilkenny and Paul Flynn clipped points for Jim Gavin's men.
Mayo found goal opportunities hard to come by and on the one occasion they looked set to rattle the net Denis Bastick got back to put in a brave save to deny Mark Ronaldson.
