St Brigid's side-stepped the trapdoor after edging out neighbours St Oliver Plunkett/Eoghan Ruadh in Wednesday night's Dublin AFL1 relegation play-off in Castleknock GAA grounds, Somerton.
The Russell Park side emerged victorious, 0-7 to 0-6, with Donnacha Ryan kicking the winner late on in a match that looked like it was heading for extra-time.
The outcome was a reversal of their regulation clash when Plunkett's prevailed 0-17 to 2-8 in Russell Park last June.
There was nothing between the sides throughout. They were level 0-2 after 15 minutes, 0-4 each at half-time and 0-6 all with the finishing line in sight before wing-back Ryan slotted the winner.
Both sides were guilty of missed opportunities with goalkeeeper Stephen Moore doing well for Brigid's while Dublin senior Paddy Andrews converted one difficult second half free.
It is the second year in-a-row that the Brigid's have preserved their AFL1 status by winning a relegation battle. Last November they defeated St Sylvester's 3-15 to 1-9.
