Dublin GAA would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family & friends of Johnny Boyle, who passed away peacefully on Saturday in his home in Gold Coast, Australia, after a long illness.
Johnny played football for Dublin and was an All-Ireland champion with the team. His career with Dublin started when he was a member of the Aer Corps. ( Baldonnell). At that time Baldonnell played in the Dublin League & Championship. He played left corner forward for Dublin in the All Ireland Final of 1955 when they lost out by 3 points. He would later transfer to Clanna Gael where he won his All Ireland medal in 1958, beating Derry 2 -12 to 1 -9. Johnny represented Dublin at Leinster and All Ireland team level. He played International Basketball on 6 occasions.
In 1958 Dublin also won the National League when they beat Kildare. Johnny ended up with the leather ball from that game. He had it signed by all the team and as a gesture of his love for the GAA he recently presented the ball to the GAA Museum.
1 All Ireland, 3 National League Titles and 3 Leinster are his trophies.
