Richie McCaw & Paul Schutte helped promote AIG’s Telematic Car Insurance

Wed, 20th April 2016

Former All-Black, Richie McCaw and Dublin Senior Hurler, Paul Schutte helped AIG Insurance promote safe driving in Ireland

Discounts offered to those who display high standards of driving

All Black legend and AIG ambassador, Richie McCaw was in Dublin yesterday to help promote AIG Insurance’s Telematics car insurance; a product designed to encourage and reward safe driving in Ireland by offering lower car insurance premiums to safe drivers. AIG rewards safer drivers with a special discount of up to 30%.

AIG’s Telematics car insurance, aimed at 21-34 year olds or Generation Y, uses technology developed to monitor driver habits. Through use of this technology, driving behaviour is tracked, including speed and braking power, which allows a better understanding of driving behaviours and makes Irish roads safer.

Customers who avail of Telematics car insurance receive an automatic discount on their premium and those who continuously display high standards of driving, monitored through use of AIG’s technology, are rewarded by receiving additional discounts and offers from AIG meaning safer drivers pay less with AIG.

Speaking at the launch, General Manager of AIG in Ireland, Declan O’Rourke, said:

“On behalf of everyone in AIG Ireland, I would like to thank Richie for joining us all the way from New Zealand today to help promote our Telematics car insurance.

“For us, keeping the roads safe in Ireland is a priority. We are very proud to be doing our bit to improve road safety and hopefully save lives. Safe drivers are rewarded with our lowest prices and additional offers.

“In November 2015, Richie became a global ambassador for AIG and his presence in Dublin today shows his commitment to promoting safer roads. We are excited to be in a position to work with one of the greatest rugby players of all time.”

Richie McCaw retired in November 2015 from international rugby. He is considered one of the greatest rugby players of all time, with a world record 148 international test caps over 14 years, and captaining the All Blacks to back-to-back world championships.
