Dessie Farrell's Dublin will take on Galway in the All-Ireland Senior Football Quarter-Finals at Croke Park on Saturday evening, after the draw for the last eight was made on Monday morning.
Dublin are looking to continue the defence of their All-Ireland title, as they face the Tribesmen this weekend.
After winning the Leinster Championship for the 14th time in succession, we advanced into the group stage of the All-Ireland SFC and after wins over Roscommon and Cavan and a battling draw against Mayo, Dublin topped Group 2 and advanced straight into the quarter-finals.
There have been significant contributions from all over the Dublin panel so far in this Championship.
Experience has been crucial already and Con O’Callaghan, Colm Basquel and Cormac Costello have been on hand to help the Dubs into the final eight of the competition, whilst the likes of Séan Bugler and Killian McGinnis have also impressed.
Galway also enjoyed provincial success this year, pulling off a great comeback with a last-gasp one-point win over Mayo in the Connacht decider.
They started the group stage of the competition with an impressive win over Derry before following up that win with a victory over Westmeath. But just like Dublin, they ended the group stage with a draw, which came against Armagh, missing out on the top due to score difference despite having the same points as Armagh.
In the preliminary quarter-finals, a three-point win against Monaghan secured their date with the Dubs this weekend.
Galway captain Seán Kelly is a steady figure at the back for Galway and rest assured, he will be looking to put the squeeze on the Dublin attack.
Galway also have plenty of threats in the forward-line, including Kilmacud Crokes man Shane Walsh, whilst Robert Finnerty and Paul Conroy will be doing all they can as Galway look to dethrone Dublin of their All-Ireland title.
Dublin and Galway have met 10 times in Championship history, with Dublin winning eight times and those two Galway wins coming in 1933 and 1934- with Dublin’s defeat in 1934 happening in that years All-Ireland final.
Here’s hoping Dublin can continue our impressive record against the Tribesmen this weekend!
