Dublin hope to continue their good start to their Leinster Senior Hurling Championship campaign, when they take on Wexford at Parnell Park this Saturday (throw-in 4:30pm).

Dublin rallied well in our first provincial outling last Saturday, with important late scores from Ronan Hayes, Conor Donohoe, Brian Hayes and John Hetherton swinging the match and points in our favour.

Seán Currie had been our leading light before the break and ultimately top-scored with 0-09 to show for his efforts. Having been two points down at the break, Oisin Kelly’s goal in the 13th minute was partly why Offaly held a slender lead over the Dubs at the half-time whistle.

Despite Killian Sampson grabbing Offaly’s second goal early in the second-half, Dublin managed to rally, culminating in Ronan Hayes scoring a three-pointer in the 68th minute before the previously mentioned points secured Dublin a championship opening day win.

Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s Dublin now look to follow up that win over Offaly against a talented and experienced Wexford side searching for their first Leinster Senior Hurling title since 2019.

With 21 Leinster titles to their name, Wexford made the perfect start to their Leinster Championship last time out with a 2-24 to 0-19 win over Antrim, which they managed despite losing Jack O’Connor to a red card in the 22nd minute.

After registering their first score in the sixth minute thanks to Conor Hearne, the reliable Lee Chin and Rory O’Connor led Keith Rossiter’s men to a four-point lead at half-time.

Chin continued the assault on the Antrim posts after the restart and Kevin Foley’s 53rd-minute goal pushed out that lead to seven, which was followed minutes later by a Cian Byrne goal, which virtually ended the contest.

The prolific Chin and Seamus Casey rounded off scoring for the Yellowbellies in their first game.

It goes without saying that Chin will be a key man for Wexford this weekend. He scored a whopping 0-16 last weekend against Antrim and having been such a figurehead in the purple and gold for years, he is one of many looking to help end Wexford’s wait for Leinster glory.

Their goalscorers against Antrim, Foley and Byrne, will prove a handful, as will Rory O’Connor, while midfielder Hearne can contribute to their attack and make life difficult for the Dubs.

Dublin are undefeated against Wexford in Leinster action since 2018 and will be hoping to continue their good record against our Leinster counterparts this weekend.

Match tickets are available here.

The game will also be shown live on GAA+, with throw-in at 4.30pm.
