Dublin will be looking to continue their fine form when they head north on Saturday evening to take on Cavan at Breffni Park.

Dublin were made to work for the win last Saturday as Roscommon pushed the Boys in Blue all the way at Croke Park. With goals from Colm Basquel & Con O’Callaghan late on, we finally saw off the Rossies in the first round of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.

We were spoilt for choice on the scoring front, as there were 11 different Dublin names on the scoresheet. Cian Murphy impressed at the back, while Seán MacMahon and Brian Howard put in excellent shifts as the Dublin squad had a few rotations since the Leinster final win v Louth.

Ross McGarry, Brian Fenton and Paul Mannion were all a major influence and threats in front of the posts for the Sky Blues last weekend and will be looking to have a big say at Breffni Park as we look for our second win in the All-Ireland series.

This Saturday’s hosts, Cavan, were beaten convincingly in the opening round of the championship by Mayo.

The northern county were always second best in that 0-20 to 1-8 defeat in Castlebar but will be looking to the likes of Oisín Brady & James Smith who were the Lake county’s brightest sparks in that showing, with Brady top-scoring with five points to his name whilst Smith was the Cavan goalscorer.

Dublin and Cavan have met five times in the All-Ireland series, with the Dubs coming out on top on every occasion. Let’s hope that 100% record continues this weekend!

Those not heading north to Cavan on Saturday can catch the game live on GAAGO from 7pm.
