Dublin hurlers will be looked to build on their performance last time out (against Galway) for Saturday’s NHL Division 1A encounter with Cork in Croke Park (5.0).
The Dubs lost heavily on their opening night against Tipperary but bounced back impressively to defeat Galway in Parnell Park two week’s ago.
“Cork will be a huge test,” says Dublin’s in-form forward David Treacy . “But we just have to look at ourselves. We have lost one, and we have won one. It’s all about trying to kick on from here.
“Our priority now for this game is to build on the Galway performance. It was great to get the result. But it was the performance that pleased us the most.
“We didn’t do ourselves justice on the opening night against Tipperary. We never really got going in Thurles,” adds the Cuala man.
“So for the Galway match, we concentrated on upping our work-rate, and that showed in the display. Every player put in such a marvellous effort and thank God we were able to get the scores that reflected our efforts.
“It will be a different type of game in Croke Park. We all love playing in Parnell, but we’ll make sure to get ourselves ready for this challenge now.
“We’ll concentrate on getting the bodies right, assess where we are and build ourselves for the match.
“It’s good to be at home. Home advantage makes a huge difference.
“But then other things come into play as well. Things like the conditions, the weather and all of that. But the bottom line is that you have to show up and deliver a performance.
“If you don’t show up, you are going to get beaten. And maybe well beaten. We didn’t produce our best against Tipp and we got turned over. That is what happens.
“But we took lessons from that, and we were able to match Galway’s work-rate the last night. That was crucial, and then we were able to get the scores when we needed them.”
