O’Sullivan and Brogan making progress in comebacks from injury

Fri, 1st June 2018

Cian O'Sullivan continues to make good progress after dislocating his right shoulder against Kerry during this spring's NFL1 campaign.

The experienced Dublin defender missed the conclusion of Dublin's successful Division 1 league as well as last Sunday's Leinster SFC quarter-final victory over Wicklow and all club action with Kilmacud Crokes.

"The rehab is going very well, ticking all the boxes there, so hopefully I'll be back shortly," reports Cian.

"I'm eager to get back out on the pitch and play a bit of ball. Hopefully that will be soon enough.

"In terms of lining out in the jersey again and being part of the squad, I'm trying not to earmark anything. But Jesus, sooner rather than later so hopefully the next couple of weeks.

"The good thing about it is that it's an upper limb injury so you can keep miles in the legs and keep your fitness up, your aerobic fitness up in that respect, and then when you do go back to playing full contact it's just about getting confidence in it.

"So I've been doing a bit of contact the last week or two, slowly building it up, just want to take it slowly and take it session by session and thus far it's going very well.

"I think I'm close, very close".

Bernard Brogan has also given an injury update following his cruciate knee injury.

“I'm definitely aiming for early August. That's the time that I have in my diary and I'm working back from that.

“That'll give me just over five and a half months, which is juicy for a cruciate recovery time. But it's been done before.

“Jack McCaffrey just came through it as well. He's back flying now. I've kind of chopped a good chunk of time off, I'm kind of where he was six weeks ago, eight weeks ago.

“A ream of people did it in five and a half. It's not as if it hasn't been done before. I'm taking a lot of energy from that type of stuff."
