Minor hurlers in positive frame of mind for clash with Cats

Wed, 11th May 2016

Minor hurling manager Johnny McGuirk has called on Dublin supporters to get behind his team for Saturday’s Electric Ireland Leinster MHC semi-final against Kilkenny in Parnell Park (3.0).

“We’re delighted that the game is on in Parnell Park and I would appeal to all hurling supporters in the county to come out and make their presence heard.

“The players have put in a massive effort and their commitment has been huge and I believe that they deserve a big support on Saturday and it will definitely help them,” says Johnny.

The Dubs are in a positive frame of mind ahead of Saturday’s knockout clash with the Cats.

“We know how strong Kilkenny are and they have a number of talented players within their ranks.

“Quite a number of them have come off the successful St Kieran’s team and they looked quite strong against Offaly the first day.

“They had quite a few scorers that day and I suppose we’ll have to make sure that we have our match-ups right on the day.

“We are in good shape at the moment and we’re very happy with the options that are developing within the panel.

“We have had a good look at Kilkenny and I think it’s fair to say that we won’t fear them.

“We have made steady progress since the year started and the intensity that we have at the minute is exactly where we would want it to be.

“It’s our most important game of the year because if you win, it means that you’ll be playing right into the summer and of course, if that doesn’t happen, it will be the end of the year so it’s vital that we are right for Saturday and I’m very confident that we will be.”
