Minor hurlers fully focused on Leinster semi-final aginst Wexford

Tue, 9th May 2017

Dublin’s minor hurlers face Wexford in their Electric Ireland Leinster MHC semi-final this Saturday in Parnell Park (3.0).

For the victors there is the prize of a place in both the Leinster final and regardless of the outcome there progress to the All-Ireland Series.

“We will look for a strong start on Saturday and having a championship game under our belts is a big thing for us,” says Dublin manager Fintan Clandillon.

“The players know what’s involved now and we saw a lot of character from them the last day, especially when finishing so strongly despite having only 14 players.

“We know how important Saturday’s match is. Everyone has really enjoyed the year to date and it’s not something that we want to come to an end," adds Fintan.

“The lads have put in a terrific effort and it’s amazing to think that one game can make or break your whole summer.

“It’s a sobering thought as well but that’s the reality of the championship and it is great for the lads to play in matches of this significance.

“We are really looking forward to it and it will be interesting to see from a management perspective who steps up on the day,” said Clandillon.

The Slaneysiders lost to Kilkenny in their opening provincial clash before defeating Offaly 2-17 to 0-13 in the qualifier.
