Dublin minor football manager, Paddy Christie, says the Dubs victory over Offaly in the recent Leinster MFL will count for nothing when the counties clash in Saturday’s Electric Ireland Leinster MFC first round at Parnell Park (12.30).
Dublin won the Leinster MFL when defeating Meath in the final after overcoming Meath very narrowly in the semi-final but as the Ballymun Kickhams man knows – Championship is a different ball game.
“We may have beaten Offaly quite convincingly earlier in the year but I wouldn’t be reading too much into that result,” says Paddy.
“We were under a fair bit of pressure early on in that game and then they lost two key players through a black card and an injury which allowed us to pull away in the second-half.”
“Despite having a small population, Offaly will always produce decent footballers and decent teams and they have put in a huge effort at underage in recent years."
Meanwhile, Dublin's minor hurlers begin their Leinster MHC on Saturday week against Offaly in Parnell Park (2.30).
