Saturday can’t come quickly enough for the Dublin minor hurlers and management when they face Offaly in the Electric Ireland Leinster MHC in Parnell Park (2.30).
The young Dubs have prepared well, entering a primarily U17 selection in the Leinster MHL (losing to Wexford, beating Antrim) as well as several challenge games to tune up for Saturday’s clash.
“We are really looking forward to getting out there and starting our championship,” says Dublin manager Johnny McGuirk (pictured during his senior days with Dubs).
“This is what all the work is about and why we prepare the way we do and we’re confident that we can do justice to the efforts that all the players have put in over the past few months.
“It is a big day for them all and although there may be some nerves out there at the start, we are happy enough that all the players have the right mentality for the task ahead.”
Offaly have already enjoyed Leinster Championship action in this campaign when defeating Carlow 1-19 to 0-10 in the opening round.
“It is a first day out for a lot of our players and Offaly have the benefit of having already played a match but most of our focus is on getting our own things right on the day,” adds Johnny.
