Leinster Championship Update

By Patricia MonahanSat, 5 April 2025

Leinster Championship Update …

It was a successful afternoon out on the playing fields as the Dublin U16 and U14 squads both registered victories in their Leinster championship fixtures to qualify for their respective provincial finals.

The Dublin U14 squad made the trip to Castlecomer for their Leinster Gold semi-final versus Kilkenny. Alex Chapman’s young chargers produced a good performance against a spirited home side. At the final whistle it was the visitors who prevailed to set up a meeting with Laois in the Gold Leinster final on the 19th of April of next.

Dublin manager, Ciarán Pollock and his U16’s squad travelled to Skryne GAA club for their meeting with Meath. A victory for either side would set up an encounter with Kildare in the provincial U16 A final on May 5th next.

The encounter was a somewhat cautious affair, Dublin lead at half time by 1-9 (12) to Meath’s Meath 0-7 (7). Leyla Abkary (St Finian’s Newcastle) was on target for the Dublin goal. A nervous second half performance from both teams saw Dublin prevail to secure the win and subsequently book their place in the Leinster final.

FT Dublin 1-13 (16) Meath 0-09 (9).

Reigning Leinster U16 champions Dublin will now play Kildare in the 2025 championship final on the 5th of May next. Kildare defeated Westmeath in their final group game also played earlier today by 2-17 to 1-05.
