Lambert fires Boden to victory over Cuala - SHC round-up (Saturday)

Sun, 30th April 2017

Ballyboden St Enda’s defeated reigning Dublin, Leinster and All-Ireland club champions Cuala 1-18 to 0-17 in Saturday’s Dublin SHC Group 1 clash at Parnell Park.

Cuala, who lined out without Dublin U21 footballer Con O’Callaghan and Seán Treacy, were a point in arrears entering injury-time before Conal Keaney kicked the sliotar to the net to seal victory for his side.

Man of the Match was Boden’s Simon Lamber who scored four points from play as well as converting four frees, in the absence of usual first-choice freetaker Paul Ryan.

Boden led 0-10 to 0-7 at the break with the Dalkey side concluding the first half on the up with a Mark Schutte point.

However, St Enda’s restarted the better with scores from Lambert and Niall Ryan (two points each).

David Treacy continued to put away the frees for Cuala, finishing with a 0-12 tally (0-10f, 0-1 ’65) but despite closing the gap to the minimum Keaney had the final say.

A haul of 2-3 from Barry O’Rorke and 0-9 (0-4f) from his younger brother Oisín helped Kilmacud Crokes to a 5-20 to 2-10 victory over Setanta in their Dublin SHC Group 3 tie at O’Toole Park.

Crokes led 0-10 to 1-4 at the break before goals from Barry O’Rorke (two), Ronan Hayes and Ryan O’Dwyer ensured victory with Cian Fallon getting Setanta’s second half goal.

Robbie Mahon scored 0-12 including frees for Craobh Chiaráin as they defeated Na Fianna 1-18 to 0-16 in O’Toole Park.

Paul Kelly hit the only goal of the match for Craobh, who led 1-9 to 0-11 at the break.

Niall Arthur amassed a massive 2-12 (2-5 from play) as O’Toole’s outclassed Nh Barróg 3-22 to 0-11 in their Dublin SHC Group 4 duel in Parnell Park.

The Larriers were out of sight by the interval by which stage they had opened up a commanding 3-11 to 0-5 lead.
