Junior joy for Round Tower Lusk and Fingallians

Sun, 20th September 2015

Round Tower Lusk captured the Dublin JFC ‘A’ honours in style when outclassing Raheny 4-10 to 1-12 in Saturday evening’s final at Parnell Park.

Aaron Howley was the scorer-in-chief for the winners as he tallied 2-4 from play and he was well assisted in an imposing Lusk attack by his younger brother Cormac as well as goalscorers Robert McGee and Greg Lewis.

Lusk led 2-5 to 0-5 at half-time with McGee and Lewis grabbing the goals, the second three-pointer coming after centre-forward Lewis played a clever one-two with Cormac Howley.

Raheny did enjoy passages of good play but relied heavily on freetaker, Michael Grenham, for scores – the finished with a tally of 0-8 (all frees).

The Dublin 5 side restarted the second half with plenty of energy but failed to translate possession into scores and then were punished at the back for some careless play.

Lusk used the height advantage in their full-forward line to telling effect with Aaron Howley grabbing two goals in the third quarter as they ran out decisive winners.

In the JFC ‘B’ decider, which was the curtain-raiser Fingallians defeated Bank of Ireland 2-17 to 3-8.

A strong finish to the opening half was central to the Swords club’s success as they scored an unanswered 1-6 before the interval.

Ross O’Neill kick-started their power surge with two points while Tommy Reilly gave his side the perfect half-time fillip with a goal in the 27th minute.

Bank of Ireland battled all the way but top-scorer Oisín Lynch's second half goal sealed the deal for Fingallians.
