ST JUDE'S 0-22 KILMACUD CROKES 0-20 (After extra-time)
Two frees from Wayne Hutchinson in the final moments of extra-time saw St Jude's knockout reigning champions Kilmacud Crokes in Saturday evening's Dublin SHC 'A' quarter-final at O'Toole Park.
The sides were level 0-15 each at the end of normal time and Crokes held a two-point advantage going down the home straight before their southside rivals struck with telling effect to hit the final four points and snatch victory.
At half-time in normal time Crokes held a 0-10 to 0-7 lead courtesy of six points from Oisín O’Rorke, who finished with a personal tally of 0-13 (0-11f) and further scores by Barry O’Rorke, Ryan O’Dwyer and Seán McGrath.
However, with Ciarán Mangan and Ger McManus to the fore St Jude’s gained the upperhand in the second-half with Danny Sutcliffe and sub Tom Devlin cutting into the Crokes lead with crucial scores before Fionn Ó Riain Broin slotted a late free to force extra-time.
Oisin O’Rorke put Crokes back on top in extra-time with three pointed frees but Jude's spirit refused to be broken with Ó Riain Broin levelling matters before Waterford native Hutchinson fired over the two late long-range frees to see his side progress to the semi-finals.
