Dublin GAA County Secretary and CEO John Costello retires today after 29 years at the helm in Parnell Park.
John took on the role in 1994 - replacing the late Jim King.
With John’s leadership, the GAA has prospered at grassroots level in the county, cementing its place at the heart of communities across Dublin through the work of club volunteers and members.

During his term, John helped evolve Dublin GAA into the modern Association we see today in the capital, including introducing the successful coaching and games program in partnership with Dublin schools and clubs.
While success on the field of play for Dublin GAA has been notable in his time in charge, John’s implementation of the strategic plan “The Blue Wave" in 2011 and the more recent acquisitions of the Spawell and Hollystown sites will go down as equally significant achievements in the story of Dublin GAA.
Everybody connected with Dublin GAA wishes to thank John for his incredible work in his time as County Secretary and wish him a long and happy retirement alongside his wife Marie and their children Niamh, Cormac & Fiachra.
Míle Buíochas, Seán, agus slán go fóill.
