Dublin midfielder Michael Darragh Macauley is hoping the Dubs came turn the bitter memories of last year's All-Ireland semi-final defeat against Donegal into a positive when they face Mayo in Sudnay's semi-final at Croke Park (3.30).
“I think it’s definitely still fresh in our heads, losing that Donegal match. I’ll have to run it by in my head again just to remember how unhappy we were after that match last year,” says the Ballyboden St Enda's man.
“I think it’s no harm. Hopefully it’s that sort of resolve that can drive you on in the last few minutes of the semi-final. Which is what we’re going to need.
“We’ve looked at it (the Donegal game), addressed it and parked it, to be honest. We’ve moved on. We have genuinely done that.
“I think we definitely learned a few lessons from last year. We’d be stupid not to. And hopefully we can put them into practice in the semi-final.”
