Go Ahead Ireland - Ladies AFL Round 1

By Patricia MonahanThu, 3 April 2025

The Go-Ahead Ireland Ladies Adult football leagues commenced on Wednesday April 2nd. With fixtures down for decision across eleven divisions.

Ladies football continues to go from strength to strength in the capital with the Dublin 2025 adult football league the largest organised to date with 131 teams competing this season. An increase of eleven new teams from that which took part at this grade in 2024.

League structures have been altered slightly from that of last season with all divisions bar the lowest division eleven, now made up of twelve teams oppose to the previous number of eight.

Naomh Fionnbarra and St Patricks of Palmerstown are two clubs who are competing at adult grade for the first time in 2025.

Our feature opening round game was the division one clash between league champions Kilmacud Crokes and Clontarf. Despite both clubs being without first team regulars who are away on County duly they served up an entertaining contest under the lights in St Anne’s Park.

Timea Kovacs (pictured above) was in flying form for Clontarf scoring a hat trick of goals for the home side. Líadan Murphy and Éabha Rutledge where dominant throughout the contest for the visitors but they could not prevent Clontarf from registering their first league victory of the season.
