Go-Ahead Ireland AFL 2 Roundup- April 5th 2025

Mon, 7 April 2025

Raheny did just enough to see off a determined Kilmacud Crokes by 1-15 to 2-11 in their Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 2 encounter at Silver Park on Saturday evening.

In doing so, they maintained their perfect start to the season but they were pushed all the way, having led by ten points at one stage.

The away goal was scored by Colin McAweeney in the second-half but despite that major and a fine Jack Fagan point, they were brought back to parity before a late surge down the middle from Brian Fenton allowed McAweeney the chance to kick the winning score.

Raheny are joined in top spot by a Skerries Harps team that also picked up their fourth successive win when overcoming Whitehall Colmcille by 1-14 to 0-11 at Collins Avenue.

Skerries have impressed in a defensive capacity all year, only conceding a solitary goal to date, and the likes of Adam Fearon, Seán Rocks and Fionn O’Leary kept a tight rein on the home attack.

The talented Fearon also contributed scores at the opposite end of the field and with Rob Delaney finding the net, they held on courtesy of further scores by Harry Dawson and Delaney.

Another team heading in the right direction are Scoil Uí Chonaill, who picked up their third win of the campaign when edging Naomh Barróg by 3-18 to 1-20 in Pairc Barróg.

There was never much to separate the teams as they entered the break deadlocked at 0-11 apiece with Andy Bunyan making an excellent save to ensure parity by half-time.

The contest was equally tense in the second-half but the visitors plundered a trio of goals through Emmet Rogan, Evan Doyle and Robert Kennedy to take control of matters.

Doyle combined well throughout at midfield with Ruairí Coady and with Bunyan rock solid between the sticks, Scoil preserved their lead thanks to five points by the influential Karl Martin and further scores from Sean O’Flaherty, Eoghan O’Connell, Neil O’Flynn and Ryan Keane.

At the opposite end of the table, a quartet of teams remain pointless with Whitehall Colmcille rooted at the bottom of the table alongside Naomh Fionnbarra and Fingallians, who suffered home reverses against Round Towers Lusk and Naomh Mearnóg respectively.

Pobal Parnell were unfortunate to register their fourth loss of the year as they were pipped by St Brigid’s by 1-11 to 1-10 and on an evening when all the away teams picked up the two points on offer, Naomh Olaf defeated Templeogue Synge Street by three points while St Vincent’s defeated Na Fianna by the slimmest of margins.

GO-AHEAD IRELAND AFL2 RESULTS: Whitehall Colmcille 0-11 Skerries Harps 1-14; Templeogue Synge Street 1-8 Naomh Olaf 0-14; Fingallians 1-11 Naomh Mearnóg 1-13; Naomh Barróg 1-20 Scoil Uí Chonaill 3-18; Naomh Fionnbarra 2-10 Round Towers Lusk 3-16; Kilmacud Crokes 2-11 Raheny 1-15; Pobal Parnell 1-10 St Brigid’s 1-11; Na Fianna 1-11 St Vincent’s 1-12.
