Flynn content with victory as Dublin now set sights on Wexford

Sun, 8th June 2014

"A win is a win" was the mantra from Dublin's Paul Flynn following Sunday's Leinster SFC quarter-final victory over Laois in Croke Park.

"The first half obviously was a tough battle, we expected it, we knew this Laois team were a strong outfit. We've played them a number of times over the last few years and every time we play against them we get a tough battle," said the Fingallians man.

"We didn't play as well as we wanted to in the first half. We showed patches of it in the second half. It's good to get the win under the belt."

"We could have been a bit rusty maybe. They had a championship game under their belt which is always a benefit."

"That was our first outing, fingers crossed the rustiness is gone and we can click into gear for the next round."

Wexford are next up for the Dubs and afterward manager Jim Gavin said: "If I'm very blunt about it, I don't know anything about Wexford. All our focus over the last couple of weeks was either on Wicklow or Laois."

"Wexford would have looked at us today live. I certainly didn't get that opportunity, they played Longford yesterday so they probably have a little bit of a march on us."

"We need to reflect on what happened today, try and get those goals. We'll keep working on that part of our game and see where that takes us in three weeks' time."
