Experimental senior hurling side to face Westmeath in Walsh Cup

Experimental senior hurling side to face Westmeath in Walsh Cup

Sat, 14th December 2019

Dublin have selected an experimental side for Sunday's Walsh Cup clash against Westmeath in Cusack Park, Mullingar this Sunday (1.0).

Only four of the starting team to face the midlanders began in Dublin's last match, their All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final exit at the hands of Laois last summer in Portlaoise - Paddy Smyth, James Madden, Tomás Connolly and Oisín O'Rorke.

Donal Burke who spent last summer in America has returned to the fold and has been selected to start at right half-forward.

Dublin are grouped with Carlow, Laois as well as Westmeath with Sunday's opponents defeating Carlow, 2-12 to 0-14, in their Walsh Cup opener last weekend.

Following Sunday's clash Dublin have a home tie against Carlow in the new year (Sunday, January 5) before their rescheduled clash against Laois.

The county that tops the round-robin section will face Galway in their semi-final with Kilkenny and Wexford meeting in the other semi-final.
