Based in Parnell Park, Dublin GAA is a dynamic community-based members’ organisation with a network of over 90 amateur clubs with the core objective of promoting and developing Gaelic games and culture in the country’s largest population centre. Dublin GAA constantly strives towards achieving its strategic goals including increasing participation, inclusivity, integration and developing playing facilities for a diverse population and the evolving communities in the four local authorities.

The Role

The Association is constantly responding to the growing and changing needs of our members, players, volunteers and supporters and on this basis is currently recruiting for the role of Finance & Operations Officer, Dublin GAA.

Reporting to the Dublin GAA Chief Executive and working closely with the County Treasurer and the National Finance Office, the Finance & Operations Officer will be responsible for administering the financial and operational activities of Dublin GAA whilst supporting the strategic direction of the GAA in the county.

This role requires a motivated and talented individual with a strong interest and passion for Dublin GAA. 

Duties and Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to: 

  • To assist the County Treasurer with the administration of all financial services maintaining governance and accountability in all aspects of the County Committee’s (and all subsidiary Committees) financial dealings.
  • Administer cost and general accounting, accounts receivable/collection and general booking within Xero accounting software.
  • Ensure the application of IT and Communication systems in the administering of financial activities, supporting the County IT officer.
  • Support the Country Treasurer in the planning and preparation of Financial Reports and Budgets.
  • Work with CEO and County Treasurer in assisting auditors in review of annual accounts and responding to audit queries.
  • Upkeep of the fixed asset register, providing administrative support to CEO and development committee on upcoming development of facilities. 
  • Administer the GAA player injury scheme on behalf of county panels and assist clubs. 
  • Working with the Ticketing Manager to support clubs and internal stakeholders with distribution of tickets and reconciliation of ticket monies.
  • Assist with the operations and day to day running of Parnell Park and Dublin GAA.
  • Requirement to work and attend evening and weekend meetings and events, in line with business needs.
  • The Job Holder will also undertake any other such projects or responsibilities as deemed appropriate by their Manager. 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Individuals must hold a leaving certificate or equivalent and three years relevant experience.
  • Individuals must have experience in processing invoices.
  • Strong organisational skills together with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High proficiency with IT programmes (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to be flexible, work as part of a team, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Financial and analytics skills.
  • Administrative and IT skills are essential with exceptional attention to detail and efficiency at keeping records.
  • Communication/presentation skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. 

Desirable Requirements: 

  • A third level qualification in the area of Business Management, Finance or Accountancy.
  • Experience of accountancy software, especially Xero.
  • Experience in financial management and/or bookkeeping.
  • A strong knowledge of the GAA and its structures.
