Dubs U21 boss Farrell knows Galway are packed with quality footballers

Dublin under-21 football manager Dessie Farrell knows his side will have to produce something special to defeat Galway in Saturday's EirGrid All-Ireland U21FC final in O'Connor Park, Tullamore (5.0).

The Tribemen defeated the red-hot pre-championship favourites Kerry in their semi-final - a Kingdom side comprising of their All-Ireland minor winning panels of the last three years.

"They raced out of the blocks against Kerry and showed just how strong a team they are," says Dessie.

"I have watched that match back a number of times and the more times I look at it, the more impressed I am by them.

"They are strong in every line of the pitch with two excellent wing-backs and their midfield pairing offered a great platform against Kerry," adds Dessie.

Galway had ten different scorers from play in their victory over Kerry and blitzed the Kingdom in the opening ten minutes at which stage they led 1-7 to 0-1.

The Tribemen came back from 1-7 to 0-5 in arrears at half-time in their Connacht final victory against Sligo before prevailing 3-20 to 1-14 after extra-time with sub Sean Kelly hitting two goals in extra-time.

In their provincial semi-final the defeated Mayo, U21 champions of last year, 2-13 to 1-10 with eight different scorers from play on that occasion.

"They have some excellent forwards too and have put up some decent tallies in their campaign so far.

"Their style of play is refreshing for the modern game and they have a manner of playing that is really enjoyable to watch.

"All the players seem very comfortable on the ball and were are under no illusions as to the extent of the challenge that they will present to us," concludes the Dubs U21 boss.
