Kerry and Mayo are already safely through to the GAA football All-Ireland senior championship semi-finals, with the other two semi-finalists to be decided next Saturday when Croke Park hosts a quarter-final double-header.
It’s Armagh v Donegal at 4.0, followed at 6.0 by Dublin v Monaghan. That leaves Ulster with three of the remaining six contenders for the All-Ireland title while Connacht (Mayo), Leinster (Dublin) and Munster (Kerry) have one each.
DUBLIN v MONAGHAN
They meet in the championship for the first time since July 1923, when Dublin beat Monaghan by 2-5 to 0-0 in the All-Ireland semi-final in Dundalk. Dublin also won the previous two championship meetings between the counties in 1921 and 1908.
The last competitive clash between the counties was in March 2011 when Dublin beat Monaghan by a point (0-13 to 1-9) in Clones in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League. Dublin, the reigning All-Ireland champions, are bidding to reach the semi-finals for a fifth successive year, having last lost out in 2009 when they lost to Kerry. Monaghan are bidding to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 1988.
