Dublin stars help AIG Launch New App Rewarding Safe Driving

Wed, 25th March 2015

AIG Insurance yesterday launched an easy and simple to use app that rewards safe drivers by reducing their car insurance premiums. Customers get an upfront 30% discount off their car insurance premium for taking the app. The XLNTdriver app then monitors the users’ driving habits and gives additional discounts based on the driving results. This helps them to become a safer driver.

Dublin stars Ciaran Kilkenny, Cian O’Callaghan and Sarah McCaffrey were joined by Tipperary hurler Cathal Barrett for today’s announcement.

Drivers who download and use the AIG XLNTdriver app will automatically receive a 30% discount on their car insurance premium. Drivers who continue to use the app over a period of 3 months and indicate a high standard of driving, calculated by the app, will be entitled to avail of a further reduction on their car insurance premium, as well as special offers throughout the year.

The AIG XLNTdriver app is designed to reward safe driving behaviours and help a driver to avoid bad habits such as harsh breaking, excessive speed, distractions like phone calls and driving long distances without breaks.

The app works by monitoring driver behaviour, helping the user to take control of their driving. It also offers the driver real time information on their driving, gives them a score for each completed journey and allows them to track their progress towards additional discounts and receive offers from AIG.

It is simple to install and registration is very straight forward. The app features unique automatic stop / start technology. Unlike other driving apps, you don't need to click start to record each journey, the app will automatically turn on and off itself, and the latest intelligent mapping technology ensures the app won’t interfere with your phone while on the move.

Speaking at today’s announcement General Manager of AIG in Ireland, Declan O’Rourke, commented; “AIG is committed to promoting safer driving in Ireland and we’re delighted to show that commitment with the development of the XLNTdriver app. While using this technology can save our customers money its principal benefit is that it encourages drivers to improve their driving habits.

“The safer a driver becomes the more discounts and offers from AIG they can take advantage of. We are delighted to reward safe driving and help reduce insurance premiums”.
