Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Association Announce Partnership with Aoibheann’s Pink Tie

Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Association has joined forces with Aoibheann’s Pink Tie to help raise awareness of the work being carried out by the children’s cancer charity whilst also supporting the charity’s “pink wristband” fund raising campaign.

Reigning Leinster champions, Dublin will defend their provincial crown this Sunday July 10th in the TG4 Leinster Senior Championship Final.

Joe Keane, Dublin LGFA Chairperson said at the launch in Parnell Park - “Dublin LGFA are delighted to have Aoibheann’s Pink Tie as our official charity partner for 2016. As one of the largest female sporting organisations in Dublin and indeed Ireland with over 9,000 juvenile members, we are only too happy to support the work of Aoibheann’s Pink Tie”.

Dublin LGFA is looking forward to working with Jimmy Norman and all the volunteers from Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, to highlight not only awareness of childhood cancer but also to help generate additional funding to enable the charity to continue with their vital services”.

Jimmy Norman founder of Aoibheann’s Pink Tie said "We are delighted to be the official charity partner to the Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Association and we hope that our partnership can help us raise much needed funds to assist those many families who have been affected by Childhood Cancer”.

Aoibheann’s Pink Tie “National Children’s Cancer Charity” was set up in 2010 by Mick Rochford and Jimmy Norman after the tragic loss of Jimmy’s daughter Aoibheann to cancer aged just 8 years. During Aoibheann’s yearlong battle

with this dreadful disease, the family found little or no financial or practical support for children and their families.

Aoibheann’s Pink Tie provide help and offer practical support to the families of children diagnosed with cancer who are attending St John’s Oncology Ward in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital.

Focusing on children attending the only treatment centre for childhood cancer in Ireland Aoibheann’s Pink Tie support the complete family unit, of parents and siblings, who may not understand what is happening to their Brother or Sister.

To help raise awareness of the Aoibheann’s Pink Tie the Dublin Ladies senior football team will wear the charity’s pink wristbands in the Leinster Final versus Westmeath this Sunday in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise (Throw in 4pm).

Dublin LGFA clubs can play their part and get involved by supporting the Aoibheann’s Pink Tie pink wristband campaign.

The pink wristbands which will be available to clubs from the Dublin LGFA at their August County Board meeting in Parnell Park are priced at €2 each with all monies raised going back directly to fund Aoibheann’s Pink Tie support programmes.

The Dublin LGFA club who sells the highest number of pink wristbands will win a training session for a juvenile club team of their choice with members of the Dublin Ladies senior squad.
