Coiste Chontae Áth Cliath are delighted to formally nominate John Horan for the position of Uachtarán Chumann Luthchleas Gael.
A lifelong member of the Na Fianna club, John will bring an end to three successful years as Cathaoirleach of Comhairle Laighean next January.
Having served the GAA with distinction at Post Primary Schools and Coaching and Games levels, John has put this experience to great effect in leading Leinster GAA and the Dublin County Board has been delighted by the broad spectrum of support that we have received from counties both inside and outside of Leinster encouraging the St Vincent’s CBS principal to run for the position of GAA President from 2018-2020.
Dublin CEO John Costello said: “John Horan has the range of skills necessary to be a highly effective President of the GAA”.
“Whether it was in a leadership role volunteering with his club at every level, serving as a selector and manager on underage inter-county teams, or overseeing the success of coaching and games development initiatives - John is someone who has always been drawn to working with people and making a contribution to help improve the Association”.
“He has been a fantastic representative in his time leading Leinster and has already proven himself when called upon to be able to deliver for the GAA at national level”.
“He has all the qualities necessary to be a strong President for the GAA in the years ahead.”
