Dublin GAA is delighted to take part alongside Go-Ahead Ireland in this year’s World Down Syndrome Day and Lots of Socks 4 DSI initiative in collaboration with Down Syndrome Ireland.
At Go-Aheads Ballymount depot, they hosted representatives from An Garda Síochána and Down Syndrome Ireland to assist with the campaign's launch and raising of awareness.
Go-Ahead Ireland and Down Syndrome Ireland have forged a strong partnership in recent years, working together on several campaigns such as past World Down Syndrome Day initiatives and Christmas fundraising campaigns.
Dervla McKay, Managing Director of Go-Ahead Ireland, said: “This year, we were delighted to have our friends from Down Syndrome Ireland back at our Ballymount depot to assist in the launch of their Lots of Socks campaign!
“To help raise awareness, we will be encouraging all of our colleagues to wear their most colourful socks tomorrow and taking part in a collective walk."
At Dublin GAA this week we also had some of our players in to wear some colourful socks!
The theme of this year’s international event is “End the Stereotypes”, and Down Syndrome Ireland is celebrating the achievements of its members in the fields of employment, education, self-advocacy, and beyond.
Down Syndrome Ireland is calling for an end to harmful and restrictive stereotypes towards people with Down syndrome.
