Wed, 27th January 2021

Naomh Barróg are calling all members, friends and family both locally and around the world. As a community, the Kilbarrack club want to walk around the world while staying at home, in 45 days!

Exercise, fresh air and a sense of community are all things that can improve our mental and physical health. So, with Health and Wellbeing of utmost importance, the club have come up with “Walk Around the World in 45 Days Challenge”. In this, they are setting a challenge to everyone to walk as many kms as they can in 45 days.

Start Date: February 1

End Date: March 17

This can be done as an individual, as a family or as a virtual team of up to 6 members. Progress will be tracked and tallied up and all kms will be counted. Daily updates will appear on the Naomh Barróg social media channels.

  • Take the challenge as a group of up to 6 people or as an individual
  • The challenge is for each member to walk at least 1km each of the 45 days
  • The target is to add all of the kms together and walk around the world- 45,075km

Registration is free. See the Naomh Barróg website for more.

The St James Gaels GAA Division 11 football team have decided to set a high bar for pre-season training during lockdown!

Their goal is to run a collective 1,500 km in 30 days, and to try raise €1,500 for two chosen charities: Pieta House and Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People.

"Despite being a football team, this running lark is new to most of us, so any help and motivation towards achieving our goal of helping two fantastic charities would be very much appreciated. During these hard times they deserve all the support they can get. Our day that we've set for our goal is February 10, 2021."
