Dublin champions set out on Leinster road

Dublin champions set out on Leinster road

Tue, 3rd November 2015

The championship celebrations will be short-lived for Cuala and Ballyboden St Enda's this week as they immediately turn their attention to their upcoming Leinster club encounters this Sunday afternoon.

Cuala travel to O'Connor Park, Tullamore (2.0) to face Offaly champions Coolderry.

"We’ll get ready for that this week,” says Cuala defender Oisín Gough. “We know Coolderry are a fantastic team.”

Reflecting on last Saturday's Dublin SHC final victory over St Jude's, Cuala manager Mattie Kenny says: “We led by 1-7 to 0-7 at half-time. Only the puck of a ball. But we were then able to keep tipping over the points.

“We won by ten points, but I don’t think the scoreboard reflected how close Jude’s got. Scores win matches, and we got the goals at the vital stages,” he adds.

Ballyboden St Enda's face Louth champions, St Patrick's, in the Gaelic Grounds Drogheda also on Sunday afternoon (2.0).

Last Sunday they shocked the three in-a-row chasing St Vincent's and will hoping to emulate some of the recent Dublin champions by enjoying a good run in Leinster.

St Vincent’s have been the best team in Ireland over the last few years,” says Boden selector Finian Hyland.

“And it’s such a big achievement for us to beat a team of that stature. But our fellas have so much heart. They proved it in that semi-final over Clontarf. That was a day when they had to dig deep."

In the Leinster JHC quarter-finals Scoil Ui Chonaill face Kilkenny's Glenmore at Páirc Barróg, Kilbarrack on Sunday (2.0).
