Dotsy inspires Boden; Jude’s defeat Crumlin

Dotsy inspires Boden; Jude’s defeat Crumlin

Fri, 15th May 2015

A David O’Callaghan inspired Ballyboden St Enda’s totally outclassed St Pat’s of Palmerstown in Thursday night’s Dublin SHC ‘A’ Group 3 clash at O’Toole Park.

The Dublin forward, who moved to Boden from St Mark’s this season, scored 2-6 from play in their 4-27 to 1-14 victory.

His intercounty teammate, Conal Keaney, was also prominent. He scored 0-3 from play as well as putting Pat’s on the back foot throughout with his ball-winning ability.

The game was only on four minutes when Conor McCormack raised the first green flag for St Enda’s and by the interval the outcome was effectively decided as Boden led 3-12 to 0-8.

Four minutes later Dotsy made it No 2 and before the interval Colm O’Neill put Boden on the way to a 13-point interval advantage.

Shane Stapleton was Pat’s chief teller and he hit 1-10 (0-8f, 0-1 sideline) but there was little the Palmerstown men could do to stem the flow of Boden scores.

Before the midpoint of the second half Keaney played O’Callaghan through for his second goal as they cruised to another two points in the round-robin group.

Beaten finalists of last term, St Jude’s, required second half goals from John Ryan and Mark Maguire to ensure a 2-18 to 0-18 win against Crumlin at Kiltipper Road, also in Group 3.

The opening period was evenly contested with Crumlin finishing the half with points from Kevin Byrne, Shane Ryan and Ben Quinn to bring the sides level, 0-8, by the break.

Heading into the last 15 minutes the sides were still deadlocked, 0-15 each, before Ryan’s goal propelling St Jude’s in front while Maguire’s strike sealed victory for the Tymon North men.
