Dublin GAA are deeply saddened by the passing of Dónal Hickey on Saturday last, June 17th.
Dónal was the former full-time Development Officer of the Dublin County Board, having been appointed in 1971. It was a position he held until his retirement in 2002.
Under his stewardship there was significant growth in gaelic games in the county and a number of new clubs were formed.
Dónal was also a founder member of his beloved Na Fianna GAA Club in 1955, holding the role of Chairman from 1962-1966 and Secretary from 1975- 1979.
He was secretary of the Dublin Minor Board from 1965 to 1972, a selector on the last Dublin minor hurling team to win All-Ireland honours in 1965 and a senior football selector in 1969 and 1970.

Dónal contributed hugely to Dublin GAA throughout his life and played a major role in the development of Dublin GAA in recent years.
