All-Ireland U21FC winning manager, Dessie Farrell, has lauded the work ethic and attitude of this year’s squad which culminated in last Saturday’s glory against Galway in Tullamore.
“This bunch of players were a privilege to work with and they are possibly the hardest working group that I’ve ever had the opportunity of dealing with.
“Since we got together, they have been hugely committed and it was their work ethic, more than anything else, that got them over the line,” says Dessie.
“It has been a very busy couple of months and it is fantastic to be able to throw your heart and soul into something like this.
“I appreciate how lucky I have been to be involved and while other things have been sacrificed, it has been hugely worthwhile.
“I have always appreciated the role I have as it is a privileged one,” adds the Na Fianna man.
“Seeing the players develop both as players and as young men is a hugely rewarding aspect of this position and this year’s crop were no different.
“You try to create an environment for the players to develop and that has been especially noticeable with this year’s group.
“The leadership that they have shown is indicative of the development they have made and Saturday’s result was just reward for all their efforts over the past few months.”
